Weaker-than-Expected Jobs Report Boosts Bitcoin and Stocks
The US jobs report for September came in much weaker than expected, with only 29,000 new positions added to the economy. This is a significant drop from the predicted 90,000 jobs and marks the third weakest jobs report of 2026.
The unemployment rate rose to 4.2%, exceeding forecasts that it would hold steady at 4.1%. The August job numbers were also revised downward by 29,000.
The Labor Department released the data on Friday morning, and it sparked a positive reaction in financial markets. Bitcoin continued trading just under $87,000 after the report was released, while US stock index futures rose 1.2% in early trading.
