Wealth Managers Eye Crypto Growth Despite Limited Exposure

Share

Wealth managers are showing growing interest in cryptocurrencies despite having limited exposure to them in client portfolios. According to an informal poll of around 400 wealth managers who attended a Bitwise presentation, 67% have no current crypto allocation, but 60% plan to add exposure within the next 12 months.

The same percentage (60%) also expects crypto prices to finish 2026 higher than current levels. This suggests that while many wealth managers are still hesitant to invest in cryptocurrencies, those who do see potential for growth and are planning to allocate a portion of their clients' portfolios to digital assets.

The poll results show a disconnect between the interest in cryptocurrencies and the actual allocation of client funds. This is not surprising given the complexities and challenges associated with investing in cryptocurrencies, including issues related to custody, compliance, valuation, liquidity, tax, and reporting.
