Wealthy Crypto Holders Stuck on Security and Fees
Nexo, a digital-asset wealth platform operating in over 190 jurisdictions, has published a survey of 1,000 affluent investors across the US, UK, and Argentina. The survey found that two-thirds of respondents already hold crypto, but their average score on Nexo's Crypto Integration Index is only 4.83 out of 10. This index measures exposure to the asset class without deeper financial commitment.
The report points to operational friction rather than risk perception as the main barrier standing between ownership and actually building wealth with crypto. Among the most committed holders, security concerns, high fees, and platform complexity are the leading frictions. Nexo argues that these issues are tied to position size rather than entry-level concerns.
The pattern also differs by market in ways linked to local conditions rather than crypto itself. In Argentina, adoption looks more like a displacement of cash due to years of currency depreciation and capital controls. In the US, crypto competes directly with equity allocations, producing the deepest average integration of the three markets.
