Web3 Adoption Hinges on Invisible Blockchain UX

Share

Alchemy's head of product Mike Garland believes the next phase of Web3 adoption will be driven by applications where users no longer realize a blockchain is involved. For him, technical breakthroughs such as scalable L1s, reliable rollups, and excess block space matter less than the industry's ability to hide complexity from end-users.

Garland argues that onboarding remains the biggest friction point in Web3 adoption. He likens the legacy experience of needing to download a wallet, buy a token, move funds, read documentation, and then use an app as 'nonsense.'

The future of Web3 UX is expected to follow the same path as the internet, where users don't think about protocols, routing, or infrastructure. Garland believes that these layers must disappear for real consumer adoption to begin.
