Wegovy Pill Boosts Weight Loss for Patients Switching from Injectables

Novo Nordisk's Wegovy pill has shown promising results in helping patients lose weight after switching from injectable obesity drugs. The OCTANE study, which tracked 194 patients over three months, found that participants lost an average of 4.1% of their body weight, with nearly 41% losing at least 5% of their body weight.

The study also showed a significant decrease in the proportion of patients classified as clinically obese, from 87.1% to 65.5%. This is a crucial finding for Novo Nordisk, which has seen its stock drop over 70% from its peak due to Eli Lilly's dominance in the obesity drug market.

Novo's Chief Scientific Officer Martin Holst Lange commented on the pill format, saying 'Clearly, a lot of patients do even better on the pill than they did on the (injectable) drugs.'
