Kamino, a Solana-based lending platform, has appointed Michael Weisz as its new CEO. Weisz co-founded Yieldstreet and oversaw the deployment of over $6 billion in capital with major financial institutions like Goldman Sachs, Carlyle, KKR, and Ares.

The protocol has established New York City operations, aiming to attract institutional capital and expand its lending capabilities to include tokenized real-world assets. The Solana RWA ecosystem hosts more than $4 billion in tokenized assets, but actual borrowing activity remains limited, with total debt under $3 million on Kamino.

The protocol's PRIME product, developed with Figure Technologies and Hastra, has attracted over $600 million in deposits within its first quarter. However, net withdrawals reached $13.6 million in August, while rival products continue to outperform.
