WEMIX$, a stablecoin issued by blockchain gaming platform WEMIX, suffered a major security breach on July 26. An attacker exploited owner privileges in the smart contract to mint approximately 5.23 million unauthorized tokens, worth around $724,000 in converted assets.

The incident allowed the attacker to move these assets across Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. In response, WEMIX immediately suspended all bridge services, liquidity pools, and trading platforms linked to WEMIX$.

This is not the first major security breach for WEMIX, as a similar incident occurred in February 2025, resulting in the theft of $6.1 million worth of assets.
