Whales Absorb Smaller Holders' Coins as Bitcoin Price Hits New Heights

Cryptoquant's data reveals that large Bitcoin holders increased their balances by approximately 60,000 BTC between August 1 and August 30. This buying spree occurred while smaller wallets reduced their holdings by about 33,000 BTC. The smallest wallets, those under 1 BTC, sold off around 14,000 BTC during the same period.

The largest holders bought nearly exactly what smaller holders sold, with large wallets absorbing almost all of the coins offloaded from weaker hands. This trend is not necessarily bearish on its own, but it does highlight a significant divergence in market behavior.

Cryptoquant analyst Woo Minkyu noted that whale accumulation intensified after Bitcoin broke out of its $62,000-to-$65,000 trading range on August 19. Large holders were adding to the momentum rather than trying to call the exact bottom earlier in the month.
