White Hats Recover Over $1 Million in Stolen Coldcard Bitcoins

A public portal has been set up for Coldcard owners to check if they are eligible to recover their stolen Bitcoin. A recent transaction linked to a Crypto Recovery Trust claim revealed approximately 52.37 BTC, which is believed to be part of the exploit funds from the Coldcard entropy flaw.

The white hats have recovered just over 50 BTC since August, and this latest find brings the total to around $1 million in recovered Bitcoin. Galaxy researcher Alex Thorn traced the transaction and directed owners to search their public Bitcoin addresses at the Crypto Recovery Trust site.

Owners can check if their address matches the recovered funds, but a successful match requires ownership verification before any lawful return. The process involves checking recovery records, chain of custody, and proof of ownership, including source-of-funds and exchange records.
