White House Blames Senate Democrats for Blocking Crypto Regulation Bill
The White House has publicly blamed Senate Democrats for blocking the Crypto Clarity Act in a 49-50 vote on September 15. The bill aimed to provide clarity and regulation for the digital asset market, but it was met with opposition from both parties.
According to the White House, Senate Democrats prioritized 'partisan games' over the best interests of American technology and innovation. Patrick Witt, a crypto adviser at the White House, called the result a 'major disappointment.'
However, Democrats pointed out that they had made significant changes to the bill during negotiations, including incorporating 126 requested amendments and new ethics rules. Senator Cynthia Lummis defended the bill, stating that Democrats voted against it despite its revised version.
