White House Convenes AI Firms Amid Growing Concerns Over Cybersecurity Requirements
The White House is convening AI companies on Tuesday to review its national AI policy framework. This framework, unveiled in March 2026, focuses on innovation, child safety, cybersecurity, and strengthening the country's tech infrastructure.
David Sacks, who served as the White House's AI and Crypto Czar before transitioning to co-chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), has been instrumental in pushing the framework forward. His dual portfolio means policy decisions in one domain tend to ripple into the other.
The meeting comes after an executive order issued on June 2, 2026, which introduced a pre-release review process for advanced AI models. The review targets only the most advanced models, leaving the broader ecosystem relatively free to build and deploy.
