White House Sees Clear Path for CLARITY Act Ahead of Crucial Senate Vote

Share

The White House is expressing confidence in the passage of the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at regulating the US crypto market. According to Patrick Witt, the White House's digital assets adviser, the administration is 'genuinely optimistic and bullish' on the bill's chances. The Senate will vote on the bill on September 15, with 60 votes required for it to proceed.

The main sticking points in the bill are stablecoin rewards and a conflict-of-interest provision related to President Donald Trump's crypto business. Democrats want stronger ethics rules, while Republicans have proposed compromises that would allow state attorneys general to enforce these rules.

Negotiations between Republicans and Democrats are ongoing, with Senator Cynthia Lummis stating that she couldn't predict Trump's final decision on the conflict-of-interest provision.
