White House Slams Senate Democrats Over Crypto Clarity Act Block
The White House has accused Senate Democrats of prioritizing partisan games over American technological dominance after the Crypto Clarity Act failed to pass in a 49-50 vote.
The bill aimed to establish a federal framework for the digital asset market, but its fate was sealed due to opposition from both Democratic and Republican senators.
Patrick Witt, White House crypto adviser, called the result 'a major disappointment' and warned that the failure could lead to global financial standards being shaped by foreign entities rather than Washington or New York.
Senator Cynthia Lummis defended the bill, pointing out that it included 126 changes requested by Democrats, including new ethics rules and changes covering decentralized finance.
