The crypto Clarity Act is facing an August deadline for passage in the Senate, and progress is being made to secure regulatory certainty for the industry. Bipartisan negotiations are ongoing, with key backers including Senators Thom Tillis, John Thune, and Cynthia Lummis, as well as industry supporters like Coinbase.

The White House is currently reviewing the latest draft of the ethics language, which was sent to them last week. Senator Tillis stated that people from the White House are working on reviewing the lines right now.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune declined to file cloture on the crypto market structure bill on Wednesday afternoon, leaving negotiators with a narrow window to reach consensus before the five-week recess starts. Despite optimism from top crypto companies and backing from major financial institutions, lawmakers appear to be prioritizing other bills.

The odds of a vote hinge on whether the Senate stays in Washington past its scheduled Thursday departure, according to Senator Tillis. If cloture is filed Thursday, a floor vote could still come as soon as this weekend, although a delay into next week may be the bill's best remaining shot at passage before recess.
