Why Your Solana Token Account May Have a Small Amount of SOL
Solana token accounts often hold small amounts of SOL, which can be confusing for users. This is because the SOL is not part of a user's spendable balance but rather the account's required storage balance.
Every Solana account requires a minimum balance of lamports to cover its on-chain storage needs. Token accounts are no exception and need a small amount of SOL-denominated lamports to exist on the blockchain.
This is because token accounts occupy space on Solana and require funding for their storage, which is separate from the actual SPL token balance. Users should not think of this SOL as equivalent to the SOL in their main wallet account.
