Will Uniswap Maintain Its Lead Over Ethereum Through CME Futures Listing?
Uniswap's meteoric rise has left Ethereum in its dust, but can it maintain its lead through October 19? The decentralized exchange has surged past Ethereum by a massive margin in 2026, with UNI up about 67% and ETH down around 9%. In the past month, UNI has more than doubled, boasting an impressive 111.2% increase compared to ETH's modest 7.9%, but it fell sharply by 11.5% in a single day after reaching $10.93 on September 23.
The SEC granted Uniswap a five-year exemption that permits select venues to trade tokenized U.S. stocks on public blockchains, and the CME announced futures for UNI will begin trading on October 19, leading to a surge in UNI's value, an approximate 19% increase after the announcement.
CME had previously listed futures for Cardano, Chainlink, and Stellar, and before these contracts began trading, each dropped by more than a third. If history repeats itself, Uniswap could see a similar price drop before its own futures listing.
