Winklevoss Files for Spot Zcash ETF with US SEC
Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have taken another step into the cryptocurrency ETF space. On October 6, 2026, their firm, Winklevoss Asset Services, LLC, filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for a spot Zcash ETF.
The proposed product, the Winklevoss Zcash ETF, would hold actual ZEC tokens directly. If approved, it is expected to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker WINK. The filing outlines a cash-create and cash-redeem model, where authorized participants would hand over dollars rather than tokens when new shares are created.
Gemini Trust Company, LLC, the twins’ own crypto firm, would handle custody. The filing also highlights a partnership with Cypherpunk Technologies for Zcash network-related services. Grayscale had already launched a similar product, the Zcash ETF (ticker ZCSH), on NYSE Arca on August 25, 2026, which quickly amassed over $500 million in assets under management.
The regulatory path for such products opened after the SEC concluded a review of Zcash-related matters in January 2026 without taking enforcement action. While Grayscale charges a 2.5% management fee, the Winklevoss filing does not yet specify a competing fee. The S-1 filing marks the start of the process, and questions may arise about managing conflicts of interest given the issuer’s affiliated company serving as custodian.
