Winklevoss Twins File SEC Application for Spot Zcash ETF
The Winklevoss twins, through their firm Winklevoss Asset Services, have submitted an S-1 registration application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a spot Zcash exchange-traded product. The planned ETF, set to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol “WINK,” will directly hold Zcash ($ZEC), providing investors with exposure to its price movements minus the fund’s expenses.
The application specifies that Gemini Trust Company will serve as the custodian for the $ZEC assets. The fund will charge a sponsorship fee of 0.25% annually, with ordinary operating expenses covered by the sponsor. Additionally, Winklevoss Capital Fund has expressed interest in purchasing up to $100 million worth of the fund’s shares during the initial issuance or on the secondary market, though this does not represent a binding commitment.
If approved by the SEC, the Winklevoss Zcash ETF will offer investors a regulated way to access Zcash’s price without needing to hold the cryptocurrency directly. The fund’s net asset value will be calculated based on the daily price reference of $ZEC.
