Winklevoss Twins Pour Millions Into Ohio Senate Race Against Brown
Crypto billionaires Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have injected $2.9 million into Ohio's Senate race, backing Republican Jon Husted in a bid to unseat Democrat Sherrod Brown.
The Winklevoss twins spent the massive sum on advertising in a single day, with most of it dedicated to criticizing Brown, who has been a thorn in the crypto industry's side with his tough regulatory stance and push for government oversight.
The Digital Freedom Fund, founded by the Winklevoss twins, has also backed Husted, spending $1.48 million on mailers critical of Brown and another $1.48 million supporting Husted. The group had over $21 million in cash at the start of the 2026 midterm cycle.
This is not the first time the crypto industry has poured tens of millions into Ohio's Senate race, with Fairshake, backed by Coinbase and Andreessen Horowitz, planning to spend $30 million opposing Brown. Stand With Crypto, also backed by Coinbase and Gemini, has endorsed Husted.
