Wintermute's Broker-Dealer Registration Opens Path for Crypto ETF Growth
Wintermute, a top algorithmic trading firm and OTC desk in cryptocurrency, has recently registered as a broker-dealer with FINRA and the SEC. This registration allows Wintermute's U.S. entity to engage in specific activities involving traditional securities under U.S. securities laws.
The main function of Wintermute's U.S. entity will be market making, which involves continuously quoting buy and sell prices to provide liquidity and lessen trading friction.
This registration is significant for the crypto ETF space as it enables Wintermute to become an Authorized Participant (AP) for exchange-traded products, including crypto ETFs. As an AP, Wintermute can support institutional trading and enhance market liquidity by producing and redeeming ETF shares in line with the worth of their underlying assets.
Evgeny Gaevoy, Founder and CEO of Wintermute, stated that this registration aligns with their long-term conviction that digital asset markets will evolve in multiple directions.
