WLFI Token Price Plummets as Controversy Surrounds Trump Family Crypto Venture

Share

The Trump family's crypto venture, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), has been shrouded in controversy since its inception in August 2024. A key player in WLFI's early days was Justin Sun, a controversial crypto billionaire who transferred $45 million to the company in exchange for WLFI tokens and later joined as an advisor.

However, things took a turn when Nic Carter, a veteran crypto venture capitalist, was approached by WLFI cofounder Steve Witkoff. Carter reportedly declined to join the project after realizing that Witkoff knew very little about crypto, stating 'He didn't know what crypto or DeFi was.'

The final straw came when Witkoff mentioned memecoins, a type of cryptocurrency inspired by viral memes or internet culture. According to Carter, Witkoff pronounced it as 'me-me' coins.

WLFI's token price has fallen more than 80% since its debut on the open market in September, leaving holders and investors with significant losses. Sun ultimately sued WLFI in April, accusing the company of fraud, breach of contract, and freezing his WLFI tokens.
