Wood Predicts Bitcoin to Reach $1.5M by 2030, Citing AI and Institutional Adoption
Cathie Wood, CEO of Ark Invest, has been a long-time proponent of Bitcoin, and her enthusiasm shows no signs of waning. She recently reiterated her $1.5 million price target for Bitcoin by 2030, which represents a staggering 1,665% potential gain from its current price of $85,000. This projection is based on several factors, including institutional adoption and the growing use cases for Bitcoin.
Wood cites the increasing number of use cases for Bitcoin, including its potential as a global store of value. She notes that Bitcoin's lack of correlation with major asset classes makes it an attractive hedge against macroeconomic weakness. Additionally, she highlights the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) agents to use Bitcoin for online transactions, which could further increase demand for the cryptocurrency.
However, not everyone shares Wood's optimism. The failure of the Senate to pass the Clarity Act this year could dampen institutional adoption, while the fact that Bitcoin has declined 33% over the past 12 months raises questions about its ability to act as a store of value. Mark Cuban, a billionaire investor, recently gave up on Bitcoin due to these concerns.
Despite these headwinds, Wood remains bullish on Bitcoin's prospects. She believes that AI could be a catalyst for growth, particularly if AI agents begin to use Bitcoin for transactions. However, achieving a $1.5 million price for Bitcoin will require significant annual returns, and it remains to be seen whether this is achievable.
