Worldcoin (WLD), the identity project co-founded by Sam Altman, has launched a specialized version of its World ID verification suite for banks and financial firms. The product, unveiled by co-founder Alex Blania at the Money20/20 conference, combines three existing tools to help institutions combat deepfake fraud and AI-driven impersonation. These tools include the World ID app, which serves as an identity wallet, World ID for Zoom, which verifies human participants in calls, and World ID for Agents, allowing users to delegate identity proofs to AI agents.
World also announced that World ID for Zoom is now generally available, following a limited beta launch in April. The feature, integrated with Zoom's independent software vendor exchange program, will be showcased at upcoming industry events like Zoomtopia and Cloudflare Connect. The company highlighted the growing need for AI-safe trust layers in enterprises, citing a Deloitte forecast that AI-enabled fraud losses in the U.S. could reach $40 billion by 2027, up from an estimated $12.3 billion in 2023.
The launch includes partnerships with design firms like OpenExchange, Bain Capital, VanEck Funds, and Outtake to explore applications in banking and financial services. Over 18 million people now hold a Proof of Human, a milestone achieved after verifying nearly 18 million individuals across more than 160 countries earlier this year. This follows the recent release of World Money, a self-custody app with stablecoin payments available in over 150 countries, and a $52.5 million token sale in July.
