Worldcoin Rallies 10% as AI Adoption Push Ignites Interest in Proof-of-Humanity Project
Worldcoin, a decentralized identity verification project, has seen a significant rally in September, with its price increasing by nearly 10% on Wednesday. This surge pushed the token to multi-month highs, with Worldcoin reaching $0.58 over the weekend, a level last seen in late June. The coin is now up 44% over the month, making it the third-best-performing cryptocurrency over the past 24 hours.
The rally coincided with the Trump administration's push for rapid AI adoption, including the White House Accord on Super Intelligence and rebranding AI as 'Super Intelligence.' This move has sparked growing interest in AI agents, with companies like Robinhood Markets Inc. exploring the space. Worldcoin's proof-of-humanity approach positions it as the infrastructure layer that helps close the trust gap for autonomous AI systems.
The project, launched in 2023, uses a proprietary device called Orb to collect people's biometrics, including irises, to verify real humans apart from AI bots. The primary developer of the project is Tools For Humanity, a tech company co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
