X Brings Trading Directly to Timeline with Cashtag Partners
Elon Musk's social media platform X has expanded its Cashtag Partner Program in the US, allowing users to trade directly from the timeline. The program now includes major crypto exchanges Coinbase, Gemini, and Kraken, as well as traditional stock brokers Interactive Brokers and Moomoo.
The 'Trade' option on supported Cashtags redirects users to a participating platform where they can sign in or open an account to finalize transactions. However, X does not execute trades or hold customer assets, leaving this responsibility with the financial companies involved.
According to Mridul Singhai, X's Product Engineering Lead, 'Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself.' The feature is available to US users only, but there's no word yet on when it will expand to other markets.
