X Integrates Trading into Social Feed with Launch of Cashtag Feature

Share

X, the social network owned by Elon Musk, has launched a new feature called Cashtags that allows U.S. users to trade stocks and cryptocurrencies directly from their timelines.

The feature takes advantage of the existing conversation around financial assets on X, where users often discuss and track market activity using Cashtags, tickers preceded by a dollar sign ($).

Now, when users tap on a supported Cashtag, they will be able to view the asset's price chart, related posts, and trade directly with one of the participating brokerages, including Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase.

Mridul Singhai, X Product Engineering lead, explained that Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself, allowing users to seamlessly access live charts, conversations, and trading capabilities.
