X Lets U.S. Users Trade Stocks and Cryptos via Cashtags
Elon Musk's X has taken its existing Cashtag system to the next level by introducing a new feature that allows U.S. users to trade stocks and cryptocurrencies directly from the platform.
The new feature, part of the Cashtag Partner Program launched on September 15, adds a 'Trade' button to supported Cashtag pages. Users can tap tickers such as $BTC or stock symbols like $AAPL to view market information, price charts, and related posts.
From there, users can select one of the participating trading partners, including Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo, to complete a trade. The selected exchange or brokerage remains responsible for the actual transaction.
The integration covers both traditional financial assets and cryptocurrencies, giving users different routes depending on their chosen asset and platform. For example, Kraken's integration supports nearly 2,500 assets across its centralized and decentralized trading offerings, while Gemini's initial connection includes stocks and five cryptocurrencies: ZEC, HYPE, BTC, ETH, and SOL.
