X Links Cashtags to Trading Platforms with Coinbase, Kraken Partnership
X has expanded its Cashtag feature to include a 'Trade' option that connects users directly to partner platforms, making it easier for them to buy and sell assets.
The rollout marks the launch of X's Cashtag Partner Program in the United States, which adds Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini as partners. These firms connect users to stock and cryptocurrency trading, with asset custody and execution remaining outside of X.
The process begins when a user taps on a supported Cashtag, such as $BTC or $TSLA, which displays an asset panel containing price information and related discussions. From there, the 'Trade' option directs users to a participating provider's mobile app or website where they can complete their transactions.
This partnership aims to reduce the friction between market discussion and trading activity, potentially increasing retail participation in financial markets.
