X Sues Bitcoin Accounts in UK Over Alleged Engagement Manipulation Scheme
Social media platform X has filed a lawsuit in the UK High Court against operators of six Bitcoin-related accounts, alleging they systematically manipulated engagement metrics to improperly collect creator revenue.
The company claims the defendants operated as an organized network, artificially inflating monetizable engagement by liking, reposting, and replying to each other's posts. They received at least £207,384 (approximately $270,000) through X's Creator Revenue Sharing Program between August 2023 and February 2026.
X suspended the accounts on August 18 and is seeking repayment of funds, damages, and investigation costs exceeding £75,000. The company alleges that the defendants provided false information through linked payment accounts and used overlapping devices, software clients, cookies, and identifiers.
