X Unveils Plans for In-Timeline Crypto Buy Buttons

X, the social platform, is expanding its cryptocurrency features by adding buy and sell buttons directly in users' timelines. This move follows the success of Cashtags, a feature that shows live price charts for tokens like Solana and Ethereum within posts.

Cashtags launched in April and generated an estimated $1 billion in trading volume within 48 hours. The new feature will allow users to place orders without leaving the post they are reading, with contract address verification included to help prevent scams.

Nikita Bier, the former head of product at X, announced the plans for the buy button on August 25. However, he has since stepped down from his role and now serves as an advisor. The launch date for the feature remains unknown.
