Xaman Wallet Growth Overwhelms XRP Ledger Node Capacity
Xaman wallet's explosive growth has caused an infrastructure headache for the XRP Ledger. The self-custodial wallet, formerly known as Xumm, has seen a substantial increase in active users, with around 735,000 accounted for in its annual review snapshot. This represents a 45.8% jump over the previous period and cements Xaman's status as the primary gateway to the XRP Ledger.
The wallet's growth is placing strain on XRPL node capacity, prompting a fix to be prepared to address this issue. Each new Xaman account requires activation on the ledger itself, with a base reserve of 1 XRP needed to maintain an account.
The fix aims to ensure that the network's infrastructure keeps pace with its most popular wallet's user base. This targeted response appears to be outside the formal amendment process and is expected to address the capacity constraint directly.
