XPeng Unveils Humanoid Robot Production in China with $900 Million Funding Boost
XPeng, the electric vehicle maker, has started humanoid robot production in China. The company's new manufacturing lines have completed their first advanced general-purpose humanoid robot, which then walked independently after assembly.
The IRON robot, a central part of XPeng's humanoid robotics strategy, features 76 degrees of freedom and 2,250 TOPS of onboard computing power. This allows for flexible movement and support tasks across different commercial environments.
XPeng plans to start mass production by the end of 2026 and will initially deploy the robots in its stores and corporate campuses. The company aims to launch official sales in China and overseas markets during 2027.
The robotics business has attracted substantial funding, with XPeng's unit raising over $900 million at a valuation exceeding $6.3 billion.
