XRP and IOTA Highlighted as Key Protocols for Internet of Value
Crypto researcher SMQKE recently drew attention to a report from the University College London (UCL) Centre for Blockchain Technologies, which highlights XRP and IOTA as key protocols driving the development of the Internet of Value (IoV). In a post on X, SMQKE emphasized the report's findings, stating, “XRP AND IOTA WILL PROPEL THE INTERNET OF VALUE INTO DEVELOPMENT,” and shared a highlighted section from the UCL document. The report specifically names XRP and IOTA as protocols that could support the IoV, describing it as the instant transfer of assets over the internet without intermediaries.
The UCL report explains that distributed ledgers can expand the IoV by enabling digital assets to remain unique as ownership and usage rights move without a central authority. It also highlights blockchain's role in providing trust, transparency, and faster value transfers, linking these capabilities to smart contracts, cryptography, and consensus mechanisms. The research further examines how blockchain could integrate with the Internet of Things, allowing connected devices to conduct machine-to-machine transactions through smart contracts.
SMQKE's post did not separately explain how XRP and IOTA could contribute to the IoV but directed attention to the UCL document as the basis for the claim. The report also discusses how advances in artificial intelligence and 5G could support the evolution of the IoV, reducing reliance on intermediaries and addressing transaction problems. The crypto community has reacted to SMQKE's highlight, using the UCL report as documented evidence connecting XRP and IOTA to the IoV's development.
