Ripple and Stellar have highlighted their XRP and XLM assets' ability to achieve single-block finality, which could drive institutional interest in these digital currencies.

Crypto researcher SMQKE points out that this feature is increasingly sought after by financial institutions exploring blockchain-based settlements and tokenized assets. Single-block finality allows transactions to reach finality within a single block, providing speed and settlement certainty essential for large-scale financial operations.

Ripple's Lauren Berta emphasized the importance of settlement finality during her presentation at TokenizeThis, an event organized by RedStone. She noted that delivery versus payment (DVP) is fundamental for large-scale financial operations and that single-block finality ensures a completed transaction is immediately irreversible.

Berta also elaborated on Ripple's settlement practices on other blockchains, mentioning the company's MintBurn product. Although Ripple typically waits for up to 20 blocks before recognizing a transaction as settled on certain chains, this approach results in operational delays and delivering enough certainty before releasing assets is essential for business partners.
