XRP Could Outgrow Bitcoin, But Schwartz Says Parity Would Require a Big Jump

Ripple's former CTO David Schwartz has sparked speculation about XRP's potential to overtake Bitcoin in market capitalization. In an X Spaces discussion, Schwartz expressed his genuine belief that XRP could flip BTC, but emphasized that this would not be due to a decline in Bitcoin's value.

"It wouldn't happen from Bitcoin shrinking," he said. "It would happen from XRP growing faster than Bitcoin."

Schwartz attributed his statement to the potential for the broader digital-asset market to expand, allowing both cryptocurrencies to appreciate while XRP captures a larger share due to its speed and functionality.

The current gap between Bitcoin's $1.58 trillion market capitalization and XRP's $88.9 billion is substantial, with XRP needing to reach around $25 for parity. However, this would require significant growth in the short term.
