XRP Could Overtake Bitcoin in Market Value, Says Ripple CTO
Ripple's CTO David Schwartz has sparked conversation in the crypto community by stating that XRP could potentially overtake Bitcoin in market value. Speaking during an interview with ILLY, NFT creator and host of X Spaces, Schwartz said that this would not occur if Bitcoin were to crash.
Instead, he believes that XRP's growth would need to outpace Bitcoin's expansion for it to become the leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization. According to Schwartz, 'it wouldn't happen from Bitcoin shrinking. It would happen from XRP growing faster than Bitcoin.'
Schwartz based his view on a scenario where the entire digital asset market grows significantly over time. In this environment, he believes that XRP could capture a larger share due to its speed and functionality compared to other major cryptocurrencies.
One key factor in XRP's potential growth is the adoption of the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Schwartz mentioned that as more real-world use cases and new integrations are added, demand for XRP is likely to increase. The XRPL has undergone several technical upgrades, including security checks and node improvements, which enhance its functionality.
