XRP Could Overtake Bitcoin with Community Strength and Functionality

Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen has weighed in on what could help XRP overtake Bitcoin, citing the asset's longevity and community strength as key factors.

Larsen made his comments during a 2022 interview with the When Shift Happens podcast, where he discussed the characteristics that enable cryptocurrencies to maintain their position over time.

'By the way, I'd point to Bitcoin, incredibly conservative community, incredibly conservative,' Larsen said. 'I think that served them well.'

Larsen also praised the XRP community for helping the asset remain relevant through different market cycles, saying it is 'incredible'.

Former Ripple CTO David Schwartz has echoed similar sentiments, stating he believes XRP could surpass Bitcoin in market capitalization by growing faster. He pointed to the XRP Ledger's functionality and speed as key advantages.
