XRP Could Surpass Bitcoin's Market Cap If It Grows Faster
Former Ripple CTO David Schwartz says XRP could surpass Bitcoin's market capitalization. However, he believes this would not happen if Bitcoin loses value, but rather if XRP grows faster than it does.
Schwartz made these comments during an X Spaces discussion hosted by ILLY last week. He emphasized that the scenario depends on XRP recording stronger growth than Bitcoin while the broader digital asset market expands.
The current market capitalization of Bitcoin is around $1.55 trillion, accounting for 57.3% of the total cryptocurrency market. In contrast, XRP's market cap stands at approximately $87 billion, which is roughly 18 times smaller than Bitcoin's.
According to Schwartz's estimate, if Bitcoin's market cap remained unchanged, XRP would need to reach around $1.55 trillion to match it. This calculation puts the token's value at approximately $25 per coin. However, this figure only works if Bitcoin remains at its current market capitalization.
