XRP ETFs See Record Volume as Institutional Demand Meets Regulatory Headwinds
In August, XRP ETF trading volume surged to $723 million, setting a monthly record. This marked a significant acceleration in activity since the products launched, with the seven U.S. spot XRP ETFs repeatedly moving above the $100 million level as XRP's price rebounded during the month.
The cumulative spot XRP ETF volume series accelerated from approximately $4.57 billion in August to $5.81 billion by September, representing an increase of roughly $1.24 billion over one month. However, the net inflows into U.S. spot XRP ETFs had reached approximately $1.71 billion by September 17, while reported net assets stood around $1.39 billion.
The regulatory backdrop changed sharply on September 15 when the U.S. Senate failed to advance the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act after a procedural vote fell short of the 60 votes required to invoke cloture. This introduced fresh regulatory uncertainty around the U.S. crypto market, which was followed by the Federal Reserve's decision to raise interest rates one day later.
