XRP, Ethereum, Solana React Differently as Senate Kills CLARITY Act
The Senate's failed vote on the CLARITY Act had different implications for three major cryptocurrencies: XRP, Ethereum, and Solana.
XRP holders were seeking statutory protection to reinforce its status as a non-security. However, this protection already existed through a joint SEC-CFTC interpretation. In contrast, Ethereum's ecosystem was affected by unresolved regulatory questions around staking, validators, and applications built on the network.
Solana, which had already gained institutional access through ETF-related products, had less to gain from the CLARITY Act. While its price still fell when the bill stalled, its losses were smaller compared to XRP and Ethereum.
According to data, XRP fell by 7.98%, while Ethereum lost around 6%. Solana dropped by 3.67% on the day of the vote. These price reactions reflect the different stakes each coin had in the legislation.
