XRP Eyes Breakout from Right-Angled Descending Broadening Pattern
XRP is approaching a potential breakout from a right-angled descending broadening pattern, a structure it has been trading within since late 2024. The cryptocurrency has been recovering since August 19, 2026, but still faces a significant climb to reach the upper trendline at $3.50. This pattern is characterized by a flat upper trendline acting as resistance and a downward-sloping lower trendline, which XRP tested at $0.98 in August 2026 before its recent rebound.
The formation began after XRP’s rally from $0.50 in November 2024 to $3.40 in January 2025, driven by optimism surrounding Donald Trump’s election. Despite hitting a new all-time high of $3.66 in early 2025, XRP faced strong resistance at the upper trendline and subsequently declined by 67% to $0.98 by August 2026. The current recovery has seen XRP rise to $1.51, a 54% gain from its August low, but it remains far from the upper trendline.
If XRP can break above the $3.50 resistance level, the measured move from the widest part of the pattern suggests a target near $6.00. This target is calculated by adding the $2.52 range between the upper trendline and the lowest low to the breakout level. However, XRP may face another pullback before reaching $3.50, which could provide buyers with an opportunity to consolidate before attempting another breakout.
For the breakout to be confirmed, XRP must maintain its recovery, build sufficient momentum, and overcome the resistance that has previously rejected the price twice. A successful breakout could propel XRP to a new all-time high, nearly 70% above the current upper trendline.
