XRP Futures Trading Surges to Six-Month High Amid Balanced Market Sentiment
XRP futures trading volume reached a six-month high in September, climbing to approximately $57 billion. This surge follows a rebound in August, as trader confidence appears to be returning alongside rising prices. XRP itself gained 30% in August and an additional 7.94% in September, fueling increased leveraged futures positions as spot prices recovered.
The rise in futures trading comes after a prolonged decline from a peak of over $180 billion in September 2025. Volumes dropped below $50 billion in July 2026 but stabilized in August before surging in September. Binance led the market, handling about $32.36 billion in XRP futures trading, more than the combined volume of Bybit and OKX.
Short-term indicators also reflected growing interest. Over the past 24 hours, XRP futures trading volume increased by 1.85% to $2.65 billion, while open interest rose by 0.48% to $3.61 billion. The options market saw an even more dramatic surge, with trading volume jumping 158% to nearly $7 million.
Despite the trading rebound, market positioning remained balanced. The overall XRP long-short ratio stood at 0.9701, indicating a slight short bias. However, individual exchanges like Binance and OKX showed higher long-short ratios, suggesting diverging views on XRP's future direction.
