XRP Hits the Big Time: Crypto Tokens Debut on College Jerseys
Ripple Labs has partnered with the University of Kansas to place XRP tokens on the Jayhawks' jerseys, marking the first time a cryptocurrency has been integrated into college merchandise. This deal comes as Ripple's XRP token continues to grow in value, despite the underlying network generating minimal revenue.
The XRP Ledger produced just $119,182 in fees this year, a significant drop from $2.35 million last year and $1.41 million in 2024. In comparison, Tether generated $2.5 billion in fees this year, while Tron earned $1.2 billion.
Ripple Labs' valuation has jumped to $50 billion earlier this year, but the XRP Ledger's performance metrics are mixed. The total value locked (TVL) in its decentralized finance ecosystem has dropped to $40 million from a record high of $120 million.
