XRP Holders Take Notice: Ripple Expands Beyond Cross-Border Payments
Ripple's expansion into institutional infrastructure is making it harder for XRP holders to ignore the company. While XRP and Ripple are not the same thing, Ripple holds a large reserve of XRP and its operations have a direct impact on the token.
The distinction between XRP as an asset and Ripple as a company has historically led to two separate audiences: traders interested in XRP's price exposure and remittance use cases, and those following Ripple's enterprise sales pipeline. However, with Ripple's acquisition of Hidden Road, a prime brokerage firm, the company is positioning itself as a builder across financial services.
This qualitative shift is evident in Ripple's product and investment activity, including the launch of Mint and investments in Notabene. While expansion does not guarantee token price correlation, a larger and more diversified Ripple is more relevant to XRP holders than before.
