XRP Investment Case Rests on Four Pillars, Regulatory Clarity Already in Place
Asset manager 21Shares has outlined four key pillars supporting XRP's investment case beyond price swings. The analysis comes as the cryptocurrency faces challenges despite recent developments that would typically be seen as bullish.
The first pillar, regulatory clarity, is considered complete with the resolution of Ripple's prolonged legal battle with the SEC. The SEC filed its case against Ripple in December 2020 and the final judgment was delivered in August 2025, including a $125 million civil penalty and injunction related to Ripple's institutional sales.
The second pillar focuses on institutional access through regulated investment products, such as U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Seven ETFs launched in November 2025 and gathered approximately $1.3 billion during their first month.
The third pillar is measurable utility, with XRPL processing close to half a trillion dollars in on-chain value over the previous 12 months. The expansion of stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets on the network also supports this pillar.
The fourth pillar is fixed supply, as XRP has no traditional inflation schedule due to its maximum supply of 100 billion tokens created at inception.
