XRP Investors Lock in $258 Million in Profits in October 2026
XRP investors made a significant move on October 1, 2026, recording $258 million in net realized profit in a single day. This marked the largest daily profit for XRP in 2026, despite the cryptocurrency seeing only a modest 0.27% price increase to close at $1.4934. The profit surge was driven by investors selling large amounts of XRP acquired at much lower prices, rather than a sharp price rally.
Glassnode’s on-chain data revealed that the realized profit figure did not align with a major price surge. Instead, it reflected substantial profit-taking as investors sold XRP bought at lower prices, particularly after the August 2026 rally. The August performance had seen XRP gain 36.9%, its third-best August historically, peaking at around $1.51 on October 1.
The quiet trading days leading up to October 1 saw minimal profit or loss, suggesting investors held onto their tokens until the profit-taking event. The previous record for daily realized profit in 2026 was $188.575 million on January 5, following a 12.28% price increase. Other notable profit figures included $70.3 million on March 12 and daily figures between $24.1 million and $69.4 million during the August 20-25 recovery period.
