XRP Ledger Activates Batch Amendment on September 29
The XRP Ledger is gearing up for its most significant upgrade yet as developers prepare to activate the Batch (XLS-56) amendment. The update, which will take effect on September 29, 2026, at 14:06 UTC, marks the second attempt by the RippleX team to launch batch transactions after a previous version was suspended due to a vulnerability in the signature-validation logic.
The new code has undergone extensive testing with specialists from Halborn and Common Prefix, as well as a public stress test at the Sherlock Attackathon. The secure architecture is now packaged into the global xrpld v3.3.0 release, which has been validated by validators. The Batch feature allows up to 8 entirely different transactions from different users to be combined into a single package and executed during one ledger close.
The upgrade will enable complex business and DeFi use cases, including institutional settlements, direct barter (NFT-for-NFT), commercial UX, and smart trading on decentralized exchanges. The 'all-or-nothing' principle applies here, meaning that if even one transaction in the sequence fails or encounters price slippage, the network instantly rolls back the entire package.
