XRP Ledger Activates Major Upgrades for Corporate Sector Use Cases
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is on the cusp of significant upgrades that will unlock new commercial uses for the network. According to Vet, community lead at the XRPL Foundation, two key amendments have reached the final stage of validator voting.
Batch and Permission Delegation, fundamental features aimed directly at the corporate sector, are set to activate in just 11 days. They address long-standing barriers that have prevented large financial institutions from safely using XRPL for automated payments and complex transactions.
The upgrades center on two automation tools: Atomic batches, which allow multiple operations to be combined into a single batch, and Permission Delegation, which enables organizations to delegate account permissions without revealing the primary private key. Both features will support institutional-grade account management.
Nik Bougalis, a key cryptographer and Ripple pioneer who left the project in 2022, has officially returned to work on the XRPL core. He plans to overhaul the ledger's low-level architecture, moving it to 64-bit components and eliminating raw pointers to improve security ahead of potential institutional demand.
