XRP Ledger Burn Rate Surges 848% Amid Spike in Network Activity

The XRP Ledger is experiencing an unusually high burn rate, which has increased by 848% in recent times. This surge in burning fees comes as XRP trades at $1.51, holding above its 200-day moving average near $1.37 after breaking a descending trendline earlier this month.

Network activity on the XRP Ledger has indeed picked up, with transactions totaling 2.9 million, up 276.6%, while successful transactions reach 1.9 million, up 172.6%. Payments are also up 129.9% to 1.2 million. However, it's worth noting that roughly one million of the 2.9 million transactions did not succeed, which could indicate spam or bot-driven activity rather than real economic use.

Other metrics such as active users and transactions per ledger have also seen a decline. Active users fell 69.5% to 152,200, while transactions per ledger dropped 25.7% to 142.43. On the other hand, active accounts rose 378.1% to 18,200 and new accounts jumped 831.5% to 3,200.
