XRP Ledger Connects to Axelar Network, Unlocking Cross-Chain Transfers
The XRP Ledger has taken a significant step towards interoperability by connecting to Axelar's network, enabling cross-chain transfers of XRP and other supported assets across over 80 blockchains. This integration marks the culmination of a partnership that began in 2024, when Axelar was chosen as the bridge provider for the XRPL EVM Sidechain.
Axelar operates as a decentralized network that connects disparate blockchains, with its Interchain Token Service handling the mechanics of wrapping and unwrapping tokens. Users can send XRP from the XRP Ledger, which is then converted into a usable asset on Ethereum, Avalanche, Polygon, or other supported chains.
The cross-chain transfer experience is facilitated by Squid, which provides the user interface layer for moving assets. Ripple, Peersyst, and the Axelar Foundation are among the collaborators behind this integration.
